Since Christmas I’ve been having an ongoing discussion with the geekdaughter about the number of toys she and her brother now possess, and trying to get her used to the idea of giving some of them up. I have explained that there are poor children who didn’t get any Christmas presents this year, and it would be nice if she chose a few of her older toys that she doesn’t play with any more to give to these children.
I was delighted a couple of days ago to see her carrying around one of my shopping bags, which she told me she had filled full of toys “for the poor children”. Excellent, I thought, she’s taken to heart what I’ve been saying.
And then I peeked in the bag… She’d filled it up with her brother’s toys! Not a single one of her own…
Is it wrong that I found this rather amusing? And also that I was quite proud of her ingenuity?
