I don’t do New Year resolutions… Oh, hang on a minute…

I don’t have a very good record with New Year’s resolutions. I can’t think of a single one I’ve managed to keep going for the whole year. So this year I have decided to join an increasing number of my friends who are trying to set specific goals for the year, instead of rather wooly “resolutions”.

So here are the things I want to achieve in 2011:

1. Reach my target weight, and maintain it (1 stone to go, having already lost 2 stone since August)

2. Secure a suitable role when I return to work in June

3. Establish a second income stream of some kind

However, in thinking about my goals, I have come up with a resolution after all, and try as I might I can’t express this in any other way. I have a tendency to low self esteem and self confidence, which frequently results in my not taking opportunities because I’m worried that they won’t work out. It’s this nature which means it feels like such a Big Deal registering for June’s CyberMummy conference. It’s also this nature which has in the past made me turn down the opportunity for weekends away with friends because I’m nervous of leaving the geekdaddy on his own with the kids.

So in 2011 I resolve to seize opportunities that present themselves. Carpe Diem and all that!

  1. […] Apparently I didn’t make any resolutions for 2012. At least if I did I didn’t put them anywhere obvious here on my blog, as I’ve just had a dig around my posts from January last year and can’t find anything that looks like resolutions! I’m sure in my head it was the same old “lose weight, get fit, embrace new opportunities” that I always seem to fall back on, but at the end of the day it just goes to prove my point from 2011 – I don’t make resolutions… […]
