A few weekends ago I had a lovely “girlie weekend” away with friends. A whole two days away from the home, the kids and the geekdaddy. It was lovely, and recharged my batteries no end. Whilst I was away, my Mum took the geekdaughter to a local pantomime – a production of “Treasure Island”. The geekdaughter absolutely loved it, and has been telling me all about it, recreating key plot points and singing the songs from it endlessly since then.
Apparently at one point they sang “What shall we do with the drunken sailor”. And yesterday was apparently her day to re-enact this part. Over and over and over again. Resulting in an awful lot of this:
Yes – it’s filmed from the back. She’d have stopped the minute she saw me pointing the camera at her. Come to think of it, WHY didn’t I do that?!
So thanks Mum for entertaining the geekdaughter and allowing me to have a nice weekend away, but next time could we do something with less songs?!
Another reason to be grateful – this week the lovely people at The Story Mouse released a new book into their iPhone/iPad app – Little Red Riding Hood. The geekdaughter spotted that the new book was available within seconds, and was so keen to hear the story that she didn’t even wait to get her apron off! This kept her quiet for quite a while 🙂
You can read my review of The Story Mouse app here.
And my final reason to be grateful this week – have you heard of the Fairy Hobmother yet? He (yes, he’s a “he” – we’re back to the pantomime again aren’t we?!) travels the world of the mummy bloggers, leaving little presents here and there from Appliances Online (who sell cookers and such-like). Well, he paid me a little visit yesterday, and I’m very grateful for the gift of Amazon vouchers which he left me – maybe I’ll use them to buy some ear-muffs! He also let me know that he still has a few presents to give out, so leave a comment on this post and who knows, maybe he’ll visit you too!
Disclosure: I received a gift of some Amazon vouchers from Appliances Online
