I’m trying to teach the geekdaughter how to share and play nicely with her baby brother, whilst at the same time ensuring that some things remains “hers”. So I have explained to her that any toys that live in the lounge must be shared, and things that are just hers live in her bedroom.
She’s mostly getting the hang of it, but still struggles when the geekson wants to play with something she still considers “hers”. Which led us to this conversation today:
Her: Mum, the geekson is playing with my Lego
Me: It’s shared Lego, darling, it lives in the lounge so you both have to share it
Her: (whiney voice) But I don’t want to
Me: Well, you have your princess Lego which is yours and lives in your bedroom don’t you? Well, poor geekson doesn’t have any of his own Lego does he? So he shares this Lego with you.
Her: Well… OK
Me: Maybe we should get the geekson some Lego of his own. He could keep it in his bedroom couldn’t he? Do you think he’d like that?
Me: What kind of Lego should we get him?
Her: ZOMBIE LEGO!!
Now I’ve no idea where she got that idea from. But I think it’s cool! Are you listening, Lego people? This could be the next big thing!
