I love the latest project from BritMums! They’re asking us all to reveal “What’s in your handbag?“. I must confess to secretly being rather nosey, and therefore I’m really enjoying the chance to peek into other Mums’ handbags. Some people carry around some really interesting things you know?
I’m also a great believer in fairness. And it’s only fair if I’m enjoying peeking in your handbags so much, that I give you a chance to peek in mine. So here goes, here’s what I carry around with me on a daily basis…
Name: Ruth (also known as geekmummy)
Number of children: 2
Date photo taken: 18th August 2011
Items from left to right (starting at top left corner): iPad 2, cheque book, two pens, purse, work mobile, iphone charger, child wrist strap, hand cream, tiny umbrella, lip balm, hayfever tablets for my husband, glasses cleaning wipes, driving licenses (mine and his), Ironbridge passport tickets (mine and his), geekmummy pin badge, box of business cards, keyring, Allways pad, packet of tissues, re-usable shopping bag.
In taking this picture I’ve just realised that the only thing that I carry which is child-related is the wrist strap, and I’ve never actually used it! To be fair, the geekson is still small enough that I need to carry a large change bag around with me whenever we take him out, and the geekdaughter is old enough that I don’t need to carry anything special for her any more. So at the moment my handbag is my own!
My iPhone doesn’t generally live in my handbag – I have a Golla Smart Bag which clips to my belt hook which I carry that in. Sometimes I have to tuck my iPhone into my handbag as well though, as not all ladies clothes have belt hooks (I could have a good old rant about that one as well. And pockets?! Why do they keep leaving pockets out of ladies’ clothes, eh?! Where am I supposed to keep my handkerchief?!).
If you’re like me and enjoy having a little nose into other people’s handbags, you can see more at the “What’s in my handbag?” site.
