It's obvious that these two love Halloween!

I have been caught by surprise by the geekdaughter’s enthusiasm for Halloween this year. She was completely oblivious to it last year, and yet this year she has been counting down the days and getting really excited about the whole thing. I’ve already shared my feelings about the whole Halloween thing, but I’m starting to feel like the minority in our house! I must confess that when Asda asked me if I wanted to try some of their Halloween cake, I was far more interested in the cake thing than in the Halloween! And I was slightly taken aback by the contents of the box that arrived. Yes, there was cake, but there was also an assortment of Halloween party accessories. Oh heck, suddenly I was actually going to have to do the Halloween thing…!

geekmummy.tv talks Halloween

by on October 27, 2011

Halloween is coming. That time of year that seems to polarise more opinions than any other festival . Ghosties, ghoulies and things that go bump in the night. And trick or treating. So BritMums are asking the question for their video blogging challenge this week – do you like or loathe Halloween? This is a subject that the geekdaddy and I have very differing views on, and I don’t think we’ve yet resolved how we’re going to handle this as the kids grow older. So I thought you might find it interesting to hear us discuss how we feel about Halloween…

Can TK Maxx do Glam?

October 26, 2011

I have talked before about how fantastic it was to be a finalist in the MAD Blog Awards, and the highlight really was the glittering award ceremony held in London at the end of last month. But one aspect of this ceremony had me worried when I first heard about it, and that was the […]

Half Term Fun at the Imperial War Museum North

October 25, 2011

A couple of weeks ago we were invited to a preview of the half term activities planned for the Imperial War Museum North. If I’m perfectly honest, I nearly binned the invite as I read “Imperial War Museum” and thought “that’ll be another London event then!”. Yes, up until that point, I didn’t realise we […]

She’s learning to play the game…

October 20, 2011

It was quite cold yesterday. I warned the geekdaddy as I set off for work to make sure the kids were dressed appropriately, and I even sorted the geekdaughter out with a nice warm outfit so he didn’t have to worry about choosing stuff. So I was a little alarmed to hear about this conversation […]

My confession – I don’t like parties

October 18, 2011

It was the geekdaughter’s 4th birthday last week, and I have a terrible confession to make. I didn’t organise her a birthday party. I intended to, I really did, but then I kind of got a bit “jammed” trying to make a decision about what kind of party it would be, and so nothing actually […]

Learning to draw and describe people

October 17, 2011

Yesterday the geekdaughter had a birthday party to go to. One of the other little girls in her class at nursery had invited her to a party at a local play barn. It was timed really well so that the geekdaughter could attend her regular Sunday morning swimming class with the geekdaddy, and then the […]

An app of the week? Actually I’m not very ‘appy!

October 14, 2011

So it’s Friday again, and it’s been a couple of weeks since my last app of the week segment. I’ve got an ever increasing list of apps I want to share with you, and I was all ready to get back in the studio this week to record a show. As often seems to happen […]

geekmummy.tv talks maternal instinct

October 13, 2011

There often seems to be a strong message coming from the press that Mums are naturally better parents than Dads. So the team at BritMums asked us, and some of their other video bloggers, to talk about this and share our opinions. This is definitely a subject that the geekdaddy has some strong opinions about, […]
