I’ve been running my “app of the week” segment for a little while now, and I hope you’re enjoying them. My criteria for selecting each app are pretty simple – I look for an app that is relevant to families, and it has to be an app that I would personally recommend. I also try where possible to recommend Universal apps – that is apps that will run on both the iPad and the iPhone – to give me the best chance of recommending something relevant to more of my readers. Want to know what I’ve chosen to show you this week? Read on to find out…
I was really pleased to learn this week that the definitive iPad app GarageBand by Apple was updated to make it a Universal app – yes it finally will run on your iPhone or iPod Touch as well as your iPad! Whilst it is not specifically categorised as a “family” app, I think it is a great example of Apple making something quite complex into something really easy to use, and there is something in it for all ages from toddler up. Music has been a major part of my life since I was a kid, and it’s something I want my kids to grow up enjoying as well, so the earlier I can encourage them to make their own music, the better!
Watch the video below to see me talking about the app, and demonstrating it in action:
If you have problems viewing the above video you may watch it directly on the web.
For the sheer amount of functionality you get in this app, the price of £2.99 is very reasonable, and I can see how it will be an app that my kids could use throughout their lives. Therefore I have no hesitation in recommending it.
Disclosure: The link to the app above contains my iTunes affiliate code. If you buy the app after clicking one of them I’ll get a tiny fraction of the app’s price as payment.
