I’ve been walking around with a huge grin on my face since I found out a couple of weeks ago that, thanks to your votes, I’ve made it to the finals in the MAD Blog Awards for the second year in a row. I’m a finalist for the second time in the “Most Innovative” category, and I couldn’t be more delighted.
I first of all want to say a great big “thank you” to everyone who voted for me. It really means a lot to know that there are people out there who like what I’m doing and who enjoy reading my blog enough to vote for it. I had such a great experience with the MAD Blog Awards last year – the build up, the swanky ceremony, the community and the camaraderie – it was all brilliant, and I’m looking forward to doing it all again.
I’d love to win again too, but I’m up against some amazing blogs and I really think this could go any way this year. Let me introduce you to my fellow finalists.
First up there’s the brilliant Nickie from Typecast. She was a finalist with me last year, and I was absolutely convinced she was going to win. It was her idea to make the lip sync video that all of last year’s finalists in this category collaborated on, and she and I have already agreed that we’d like to do something like that again this year. Not the same, obviously, because that wouldn’t be very innovative now, would it?
Then there’s the new kid on the block – Annie from Mammasaurus. Annie is a relatively new blogger, but she’s exploded onto the blogging scene with her amazing energy and seemingly unending creativity. She blogs, she vlogs, and she dashes around the country in mad fundraising projects for charity. And even more sickeningly, she’s absolutely lovely in real life too!
Annie is also a finalist with another of her blogs – Love All Blogs (she has recurrent blog syndrome or something – she’s always hatching ideas for new ones!). This is a community site which encourage bloggers to share posts and provides a great resource for finding new blogs to read. You can even install a convenient button in your web browser, much like the “pin it” button, to make sharing your favourite content really easy.
And finally there’s another blog I absolutely love – Science Sparks. Written by Kerry and Emma this blog aims to make science fun for kids, and gives loads of ideas for experiments and fun activities that you can do at home. As a science lover I think this is great and I can’t wait until the geekdaughter is that little bit older so I can do some of their ideas with her.
It’s a great line up – I encourage you to take a look at all my fellow finalists, because they’re all great blogs and well worth reading.
My MAD Blog Awards journey last year ended up like this:
… and I’d really like to try to do that again this year. I can only do that with your votes, so please, if you like my blog and want to support me, head on over to the MAD Blog Awards voting form and choose “Geek Mummy” in the “most innovative” category – it’s the very last one in the list. You don’t have to vote in every category if you don’t want to, but at the same time I would encourage you to check out some of the blogs in the other categories – there are some great ones there. Voting is open until 5pm on Wednesday 6th June, and I’m really grateful for every vote I get.
