I’ll say one thing for the 5:2 diet – it’s definitely making my meal planning easier. Having two days per week that I don’t need to plan for (on fast days I buy something to eat from work and the geekdaddy fends for himself) means less planning work for me, which is never a bad thing. We’ve now completed 2 weeks of eating this way, and although the geekdaddy had one rough day last week where he had to resort to nibbling a couple of carrots in order to get through the day, on the whole we’ve coped well, and it’s feeling like a sustainable eating plan. At the time of writing we’re away from home, and so haven’t weighed ourselves this week, but I think we are both continuing to lose weight, which we’re both very happy about.
We’ve been enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend, staying with friends in Wales and meeting up with a number of other friends we haven’t seen for ages. All the kids have been happily playing together, the geekdaughter has had her first experience of camping, and much fun has been had by all. Looking forward to our week ahead I’ve discovered that we’re going to be eating out a disproportionate number of times, so coupling that with two fast days means that I’m only using two of the five menus4mums recipes this week. Even so, I’m still finding the service is value for money and I’ve paid for another 4 week subscription.
We have a busy day on Saturday. We’re going to take the geekson to his first ever film showing at a cinema. I’m a little worried he might be a bit too young still, but when I heard there was a new Thomas the Tank Engine movie coming out I really wanted to take him to it. He’s such a big Thomas fan, and has watched the trailer several times on my PC. After the film we’ll have a family lunch out and then we have a birthday party to go to in the afternoon, so it will be a very busy day.
So here’s my meal plan for the week:
Monday: Meal out (grabbing something on the way home from Wales)
Tuesday: fast day
Wednesday: Pasta with pancetta, peas and salad
Thursday: second fast day
Friday: Takeaway (we have a friend coming to stay the night)
Saturday: Meal out (after the film)
Sunday: Spanish Lamb Chops
I’ll be linking this post up with the other Meal Planning Monday posts over on the At Home with Mrs M blog – why not head over there and see what other people are eating this week?

The pasta sounds nice. Its such a goo idea to plan like this when dieting, its too tempting just to pig out, well for me it is!
