I had a complete failure of the meal plan last week. I didn’t cook a single meal that I’d planned. In fact I didn’t cook at all. Somehow I didn’t manage to get my Internet shopping done, which meant we didn’t have any ingredients in the house, and that of course meant a large amount of takeaway food was consumed.
We had a great week though, and a lovely fun family weekend. We managed to fit the geekdaughter’s ballet lesson, collecting a new nano SIM for my shiny new iPhone 5, a trip to the funfair, a family swimming session and family lunch out into just two days. It was busy, but great fun.
This week is going to be another busy week, as I’m working four days and then away in London on Friday night for the MAD Blog Awards. This is the glittering award ceremony when we all get to find out which parenting blogs were voted the winners in a variety of categories. I’m defending my “most innovative” title that I won last year, and the field is even tougher this year than it was last year. Unlike last year, when I had to drive home from London directly after the ceremony, this year I’ve arranged to stay overnight which means I might get to have a lovely lie-in on Saturday morning, if my body clock will let me.
Here’s my meal plan for this week:
Monday: fast day, so no main meal to plan
Tuesday: Minted lamb burgers
Wednesday: second fast day
Thursday: Steak in peppercorn sauce with chips and veg
Friday: No plan (I’m away at the MADs, leaving the geekdaddy to fend for himself)
Saturday: A post-MADs takeaway to either celebrate or commiserate with the geekdaddy
Sunday: Quick Indian chicken rice (menus4mums)
I’ll be linking this post up with the other Meal Planning Monday posts over on the At Home with Mrs M blog – why not head over there and see what other people are eating this week?
