It was the geekson’s birthday a couple of days ago, and I think the geekdaughter was more excited about it than he was. I could tell she was excited when she woke me up at 5.30am in the morning to make sure I knew to give him the special birthday badge that she had made him. And again at 6am to ask where her party dress was. And again at 6.30am to ask if she could have breakfast! As I’d been up late the night before making sure all his presents were wrapped and ready I was a little grumpy about the early wake-up, but that soon faded away when I woke the birthday boy up and the day started properly…
It had worked out really nicely that we’d been invited to the press preview of the new Sea Life centre in Manchester, and we had to leave home early in order to get there in time, so the geekson only got to open one present before we left. As an added bonus we got to wait in the Legoland Discovery Centre until the Sea Life Centre was ready for us, and rather amusingly almost lost the geekson head first into a vat of LEGO:
We had a lovely time at the Sea Life Centre – there’ll be a full blog post about that coming soon, but here’s a sneaky peek of what it looked like:
After we’d explored Sea Life we had time for a quick lunch in the Trafford Centre before heading home. There there was the small matter of a pile of presents to be demolished:
We had a small party tea for local family and a few friends. The kids all played nicely together, we served up a very simple party tea of sandwiches and cheese and pineapple on sticks. My Mum made a lovely birthday cake, and the geekson got very excited about blowing the candles out:
And all too soon the day was all over, leaving us all very tired, but happy:
I’m still getting used to my youngest child being three! Happy birthday little man – it was a good day.
