We headed off to the summer fair at the geekson’s nursery this weekend, and we all had a great time. There were a good selection of stalls for us to spend money on, and a group of people teaching African drums and dancing. And there was face painting.
The geekdaughter loves having her face painted or her nails done. At the summer fair there were stalls for both, and I was a mean mummy and told her she could only have one or the other. After telling me all 1028 of my bad tanks were full (and no, I have no idea how she came by this number!) she decided on the face pointing, and joined the queue. She had no doubts about the style she wanted, and quite soon she looked like this:
The geekson, of course, wants to do everything his sister does. So he was right behind her in the queue, and declared he wanted to have the Spiderman look. And this is where I learnt a very important lesson when it comes to face painting – take the picture as soon as they are finished, because it only took a few minutes to go from this:
And then he got really upset because he’d smudged his spiderman, and he cried, which made it all so much worse… Poor boy.
After lunch we headed to our local park which was hosting a family fun day. There were several different crafts and activities available, but I was drawn to the Henna tattoo stand, where you could get some beautiful designs. I decided on a flower pattern which travels from my wrist to my little finger. Then of course the geekdaughter wanted one, and not to be left out the geekson wanted one too. The geekdaughter got a beautuful butterfly and flower design, and due to the earlier spiderman incident we decided something a bit less complex would be best for the geekson, so he just had a little football. Here we all are:
Bad mother than I am I only realised school might have an issue with the geekdaughter turning up this week with a Henna tattoo after it was half completed, and it was too late to stop it then! I hope as she’s only got three days of school left that they will forgive me!
