Just over a week ago I attended the BritMums Live blogging conference in London. I went last year with the geekdaddy, and we had the most amazing time. This year we were both there again, trying to capture some of the brilliant atmosphere and speakers on film for the official highlights video. One part of this event is the annual Brilliance in Blogging awards, and thanks to all your votes and support I was there as a finalist, for the second year running, in the “video” category. There was a proper awards ceremony on the Friday night, hosted by author and stand-up comedian Viv Groskop. I was delighted to be shortlisted, but having checked out the other finalists was sure I wouldn’t win, so it took me completely by surprise when my name was called as the winner. This is the thank you speech I should have given at the time…
Wow, thank you so much for this amazing award – I am truly surprised to have been selected by the judges as the winner, as this was a highly contested category, and any one of my fellow finalists would have also been a deserving winner. The 6 finalists are an amazingly diverse bunch. For starters, two of them have proper professional show reels – one as a film director and one as an actress. I was also shortlisted against last year’s winner, who has this year had the opportunity to travel to Ghana with Comic Relief and vlog from there. Another finalist is one of my favourite video bloggers, who has also had a starring role in a television commercial, and the last finalist makes the most amazing videos about the challenges of living with a child with an undiagnosed medical condition.
I want to thank the BritMums team for helping me get off to a great start with video blogging, as I attended a very useful workshop that they ran only a few months after I started. And I couldn’t do any of this without my lovely husband, who provides great support with both encouraging words and technical skills.
Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me during the nomination stage of these awards. I haven’t made as many videos as I’d like to recently and I’m really grateful that you still consider me one of the top video bloggers. I have loads of ideas for videos I want to make in the future, and winning this award will definitely give me some motivation to get that done.

I am absolutely delighted to be a Finalist in the MAD Blog Awards this year, in the “Most Innovative” category. If you enjoy my blog, please head on over to the Voting Form and vote for me. Thank you :)
