You may or may not have heard of the new game Mech Mice. It’s been written by some of the original creators of Club Penguin, and is an in-browser hex-based RPG. It’s been in open beta for a while, and officially went live on October 10th. To celebrate its launch, it’s creators are holding a scavenger hunt. Over the course of 6 weeks, 12 map pieces will be hidden on 12 different blogs, and each map piece will help you unlock a little of the story behind Roden, which is the world on which Mech Mice is based.
When I was asked if I’d like to play host to a map piece for the Mech Mice scavenger hunt I agreed because it sounded like a fun thing to do and I thought it would be a great way to discover some new blogs as well! So without further ado here is the 5th piece of the map:

So what do I think of the game itself? Well, I’ve only played the first few missions in the first chapter, but I must say it’s rather fun. I’m definitely more of a casual gamer these days, and I like how easy it is to dip in and play the odd mission when I get a few spare minutes. The graphics are cute, the controls are intuitive, the game has good character and I’m enjoying it. The first chapter (8 levels) are free to play, and subsequent chapters cost $7.99 each. The game is described as being suitable for players young and old, although it may not be suitable for very young children as it does involve guns and shooting (in a fantasy setting). It’s certainly family-friendly and it’s nice to see plenty of information for parents on the site as well. You can see how the game looks in this gameplay video:
The remaining 7 map pieces will appear on other blogs over the next few weeks – keep your eyes open, and happy hunting!
