Last year the geekdaddy completely freaked me out by shaving for the first time in many, many years. He then proceeded to grow the most ridiculous looking moustache throughout the course of November. I moaned incessantly about the whole thing, but at the end of the day it was for charity and I supported him completely.
If you’ve not come accross #Movember before let me explain. It’s a global movement that encourages men worldwide to grow a moustache in November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, particularly male cancers. Participants gain sponsorship for their “Mo”, and all money raised goes to men’s health charities.
I was impressed that the geekdaddy stuck with it, if I’m honest. He doesn’t have a good track record for shaving (the main reason he is usually bearded is that he can’t be bothered to shave!), but he managed to shave every day throughout the month. Last November marked a real turning point for him and his beard because since then he has continued to shave every day, and throughout this year he has been sporting a rather tidy goatee (which suits him better than the moustache alone in my humble opinion).
Well, this November he’s doing it all over again. Today the goatee comes off, and he starts the month clean shaven, like many other men who are participating in #Movember. He’ll then grow his moustache throughout the month, hopefully without the silly soul patch this time around! This year he is teaming up with the other LoveAllDads podcasters (or at least 3/4 of them unless Lewis has a very sudden change of heart!) to try to raise even more money.
So this is a shameless plug for the geekdaddy’s fundraising efforts. If you’re interested in supporting his efforts for men’s health then please head over to his Mo space and make a donation. You can see the entire LoveAllDads podcast team here – I’m sure there’ll be some friendly rivalry to see who can raise the most money!
And, finally, if you’re taking part in #Movember yourself you may be interested to know that there is an official app available for both iOS and Android devices. It allows you to track and manage your campaign on the go, and even allows you to take and upload your daily Mo photo.
Good luck to all #Movember participants – hope you raise loads of money, and increase awareness of men’s health issues as well.
