I’m probably starting to sound like a stuck record, but it’s been another hectic week. There’s only one more week until play week, so rehearsals have ramped up, and are finishing later as we work to get everything running as smoothly as possible for opening night. An example of how busy I’ve been was this morning, when I had to find the geekdaughter’s ballet uniform for her class. After a lot of hunting I finally found her leotard and tights at the bottom of the dirty washing basket where they’d been thrown after last week’s class. So, great Mum as I am, I fished them out and made her wear them again – I’m sure no-one noticed! You’ll be pleased to know I have already washed them, so we won’t have the same experienced next week! That just shows how hectic things are at the moment. However, in the midst of all the chaos, I am still taking my daily photos, and here is my selection for this week:
Sunday 2 March 2014: Playground Fun
As my husband was out all day today (he’s covering the UK photography Show), the kids and I went to my Mums for lunch. After lunch we managed to get out to her local playground, which is one of the kids’ favourites. There is a “speaking pipe” thing, where if y stand at one end you can hear whoever is at the other end, and the kids had loads of fun chatting to each other!
Monday 3 March 2014: The Letter F
My son is very keen on learning to write at the moment. He enjoys sitting with a pencil and a page of dotted letters to trace, and (though I say it myself) he’s getting pretty good. This is an excerpt of today’s worksheet from pre-school, where he was practising the letter f. I particularly like where he’s written the letter completely freehand for the start of the two words.
Tuesday 4 March 2014: Shrove Tuesday
Pancake day today, and my husband makes the best pancakes. We always have savoury first and then sweet. This was my savoury – topped with home-cooked ham and cheese – yummy!
Wednesday 5 March 2014: Sibling Cuddles
I walked into the lounge this evening to see these two cuddling each other on the sofa. I commented on how lovely it was to see them hugging each other. Quick as a flash my daughter piped up “have you got your photo of the day yet Mummy? Only this would make a good one!”.
I hadn’t, so I took her advice
Thursday 6 March 2014: World Book Day
Judging by my Twitter and Facebook timelines, we’ve managed to get off lightly for World Book Day for a second year. It seems that most schools ask kids to come into school on World Book Day dressed as their favourite book character. Last year my daughter didn’t need to dress up at all, and this year the only requirement was for her to wear a pair of wellies. Apparently the whole school are reading ‘Where My Wellies Take Me’ by Clare and Michael Morpurgo, so all the kids were asked to come in in wellies.
Friday 7 March 2014: Nintendo Family Blogger
A lovely parcel arrived in the post today – a goodie bag from Nintendo UK to welcome me as one of their official bloggers. Over the next year I’ll be working with them to review some of their latest family titles, and I must confess I’m very excited about it. With the kids just discovering the Wii-U I’m looking forward to trying some different games with them; hopefully some things we can all enjoy together.
The highlight of the goodie bag was definitely the set of four Mario-themed mugs, although the Mario biscuits come a close second – they didn’t last long, I can tell you!
Saturday 8 March 2014: Me and Her, Three Years Apart
Today my husband took the photo on the right of my daughter and me together. A little later I glanced through the Timehop app on my phone, and found the photo on the left from three years ago. The similarities were striking, so I just had to put them next to each other.
So I’m doing something a little different today. Up until now in my photo a day project each photo has been taken by me on the day in question. Today I’m sharing two photos – one of which was taken today, and the other of which was taken by me
