As we approach the end of the summer holidays I am finding myself hugely conflicted. On the one hand I can’t wait for the kids to go back to school, to get back to the normal routine, and to get a little bit of my “me” time back. As has probably been apparent over the last few weeks it’s been challenging juggling all my usual work with childcare plus being involved with a local theatre production. I feel like I’m running around in circles at the moment. Hence the reason I’m posting two weeks worth of daily photos this week, as I didn’t manage to post last week. But at the same time as I’m looking forward to the schools going back, I’m not looking forward to the geekson starting school. My baby is starting school, and I’m still not sure I’m ready for that. No doubt about it, he is more than ready – he’s very excited about the prospect – let’s see if that lasts when he realises it will be every day! Anyway, here’s what’s been keeping up busy over the last two weeks:
Sunday 17 August 2014: Sharing the Sweeties
We were reunited with the kids today after a day away from them at the UKPod14 podcasting conference yesterday. We’d brought a few sweeties from the conference for them, and here they are after we’d shared them out fairly – happy kids 🙂
Monday 18 August 2014: Getting ready for some #GoProAdventures #review
We are so excited to have been selected to work with GoPro on a blogger project. This wonderful parcel containing a GoPro Hero 3+ video camera and loads of accessories arrived today. I have wanted to play with one of these cameras for a long time, and we’re going to have great fun testing it out.
Tuesday 19 August 2014: There’s Something Missing… #GoUltraLow
One of my work colleagues told me that they’d seen an electric car charging point in a nearby public car park, so as I am currently testing the Nissan LEAF as part of the GoUltraLow project I thought I would check it out. I found the parking spaces easily, but sadly it looks as though they are a work in progress, because there was no charger installed 🙁
Wednesday 20 August 2014: Putting on a Show
Today the Skylanders and the Disney Infinity characters have all come together to put on a show for us 🙂
Thursday 21 August 2014: Watching the Pennies
I used to love this when I was a kid – the charity donation boxes or buckets that make dropping your pennies in interesting. The kids particularly love this one in our local McDonalds, and always beg me for some loose change when we go in.
Friday 22 August 2014: Summer Dance School Graduate
This week my daughter has been attending a summer school at her ballet school, and she’s had a great time. She was delighted to receive her very own souvenir T-shirt at the end of the week.
Saturday 23 August 2014: Camping
Tonight our kids will be sleeping in this. Without us. Neither my husband nor I “do” camping. This tent is pitched in my friends garden, and we’ll be sleeping in a comfortable bed inside the house!
There will be some other kids in the tent as well to look after ours, so we’re not abandoning them completely 🙂
Sunday 24 August 2014: Mister Maker Live!
Today we went to Flavours, the Hereford Food Festival, with some friends, and one of my friends had booked tickets for us and the kids to see Mister Maker on stage. He was fantastic – really entertaining and great with the kids. A combination of making, singing and dancing – my two loved it (my son cried buckets when it was over!)
Monday 25 August 2014: Lazy Tea
After a busy weekend away we got home to very little food in the house, so the kids’ tea today was my “I can’t be bothered tea”. Commonly known as “things on a plate” in this family 🙂
Tuesday 26 August 2014: Curly Girl
As it’s the school holidays I’ve been rather less diligent about brushing and styling my daughter’s hair than I usually am. And these rather glorious curls have been appearing! When she’ solder, and more capable of looking after them properly, she may have even better curls than me!
Wednesday 27 August 2014: Best. Sweets. Ever.
Thursday 28 August 2014: Preparing for #GoProAdventures
Making use of the lovely GoPro equipment we’ve been sent to review 🙂
Friday 29 August 2014: Bye Bye LEAF #GoUltraLow
Today we waved goodbye to the lovely Nissan LEAF that we have been driving for the last 6 weeks as part of the GoUltraLow campaign. The flatbed turned up early to collect it, and both kids were still in their pyjamas, but I let them out onto the road to wave goodbye. They’ve loved having the electric car, and my son sobbed for a while after it had been driven away.
Saturday 30 August 2014: Reading the sign
We walked into town through our local park today, and my daughter took great delight in reading the commemorative signs in front of some of the trees to my son.
