It’s been a very busy couple of weeks, which is why I didn’t post a Photo A Day roundup last week, and am catching up two weeks worth today. 10 performances of Aladdin at Knutsford Little Theatre along with my normal work and home duties over the last fortnight meant I was racing around like a loon. But it was such fun, and I am already missing my theatre family as the “post-performance blues” kick in. Hope it’s not long until I see them all again. So here is my mammoth two week catchup on my daily photo project:
Sunday 11 January 2015: Scalextric
We finally got around to setting up my son’s main Christmas present today. When I found a Scalextric set with Minis in our local toy shop I knew it was just perfect for him. He seems to be pleased with it 🙂
Monday 12 January 2015: Cake!
A work colleague brought chocolate cake into the office today – yum!
Tuesday 13 January 2015: Coffee
Since a recent gallbladder attack at the start of December I haven’t had a cup of coffee. The mere thought of coffee turned my stomach, so I went completely cold turkey. Today, for the first time in over a month, I fancied a cup, so I treated myself to one at work. It went down very well, and thanfully didn’t upset my gallbladder 🙂
Wednesday 14 January 2015: A Light Dusting
On a day when my Instagram and Facebook feeds were full of pictures of people who’d had a good fall of snow overnight, here in Cheshire we had what I would describe as a “light dusting”. My kids are very sad they haven’t had any proper snow this year (yet!)
Thursday 15 January 2015: Marmalade
My Mum is the Queen of Marmalade – she makes it every year, and it’s delicious. This year, however, she didn’t feel well enough to make it, and so my husband stepped into the breach and made his first ever batch. Here it is cooking. It came out pretty well, not as good as Mum’s, but definitely edible and quite tasty 🙂
Friday 16 January 2015: For Research Purposes
It’s been in the news recently that Cadbury have changed the chocolate used in Creme Eggs, and it’s no longer Dairy Milk. I am a BIG fan of Creme Eggs, and very worried about this change. So I had to buy a box today to test them out (if you want to know what we thought you’ll have to listen to the latest episode of Parental Geekery where we did a “Live” taste test)
Purely for research purposes, you understand 😉 #tw #365 16/365 A photo posted by Ruth Arnold (@r2uk) on
Saturday 17 January 2015: Secret Garden
Arriving at the theatre today for the matinee performance of Aladdin was one of the first time I’ve turned up in daylight. Walking through the little cut-through from the car park to the theatre I spotted this little gem – a secluded little seat – the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. Shame about all the litter though…
Sunday 18 January 2015: Bread and Water
I guess it was inevitable after a week of dashing around from home to work to the theatre, grabbing meals wherever I could, and not being as careful about what I ate – another gallbladder attack last night. So I’m back on the bread and water for a bit until my system settles down. This was my picnic tea between performances at the theatre today.
Monday 19 January 2015: Star of the Week
My kids’ school has a “Star of the Week” award in Reception – each week one child is selected to receive the class mascot (Baloo the bear) as a reward for good behaviour. Baloo comes with a scrapbook, and the parents get the task of taking pictures of their child with the bear as they get up to various activities. I was very proud when I saw the reason my son had been awards this honour today.
Tuesday 20 January 2015: Trusting soul
Got home from work today to discover this – my husband’s keys in the outside door. Thankfully we live in a quiet cul-de-sac and nothing untoward had happened 🙂
Absent-minded husband managed to leave his keys in the front door this afternoon! #tw #365 20/365 A photo posted by Ruth Arnold (@r2uk) on
Wednesday 21 January 2015: Brownies
My daughter had her first experience of Brownies this evening, and was delighted to be presented with the “Becoming a Brownie” leaflet, which tells her a bit about what Brownies get up to and prepares her for making her Promise, should she choose to.
Thursday 22 January 2015: Police Hat
Back to the theatre again today for our second week of performances. My role is that of “PC Pong”, one half of the comedy police double act, and this is part of my costume – my policeman’s hat.

Friday 23 January 2015: Cookies!
We’re having a bit of a “bake off” in the dressing room at the theatre, with several of us making biscuits for us all to enjoy in the interval. Today I made my contribution – chocolate and cranberry cookies. From my Mum’s recipe, which when she emailed it to me she said “here you are, even you couldn’t mess these up!”. And she’s right – I can’t, and my theatre friends all really enjoyed them 🙂
Saturday 24 January 2015: Wish Bone
My Mum cooked lunch for us all today – a roast chicken. My husband and daughter got the leg bones, and my son then demanded his own bone. So he was given the wish bone, which he was very pleased about!
