A Photo A Day – Weeks 9 & 10/2015 Roundup

March 10, 2015 by geekmummy 1 Comment

Somehow things are just really hectic at the moment, and I’m not getting as much time to blog as I’d like. The kids are going to bed later in the evening, and I’m going to bed earlier, which means there’s fewer hours in between to get everything done. So whilst I’m still making sure to take at least one photo every day, I’m writing another two-week roundup this week as I didn’t manage to get around to writing last week’s in a timely fashion. So here is my selection of photos from the last two weeks :

Sunday 22 February 2015: Snow!

We went out for lunch with some friends today, and whilst we were out we had quite a snowstorm. It snowed heavily the whole time we were eating, and we didn’t think it would settle. The kids were rather delighted to discover there was a “light dusting” on the grass when we got outside – enough to make footprints in at least!

We had a light covering of snow today – enough for the kids to make footprints in! #tw 365 53/365

Monday 23 February 2015: All his own work

My son has been enjoying drawing recently, and despite his sister muscling in on the photo, he is very proud that this picture is all his own work!

Tuesday 24 February 2015: Buns!

The geekdaddy was overcome with an urge to bake yesterday evening, and produced this batch of Chelsea buns after I’d gone to bed. What a lovely sight to wake up to!

My lovely husband baked Chelsea buns last night – what a lovely sight to wake up to! @floyduk #tw #365 55/365

Wednesday 25 February 2015: Surprise Monster Egg

The geekdaughter has started watching YouTube, and is obsessed with watching videos of people opening surprise eggs and “blind bags”. She keeps talking about watching the opening of “giant surprise PlayDoh eggs”, and today made her own giant surprise PlayDoh egg for her brother!

It’s a Play Doh monster! #23snaps #tw #catherine #365 56/365 A photo posted by Ruth Arnold (@r2uk) on Feb 25, 2015 at 2:10pm PST

Thursday 26 February 2015: Plasticine

The kids have been enjoying rediscovering their Plasticine, and this is what my daughter made with hers today (including mixing the right colours to make the brown)

Someone’s been having fun with plasticine #23snaps #catherine #tw #365 57/365

Friday 27 February 2015: Passport Renewal

I can’t believe the time has come around for me to be renewing my firstborn’s passport! But yes, in order for us to get to DisneyLand Paris next month, she needed to have her passport renewed. Today I got all the paperwork together and sent it off to the Passport Office.

Renewing my firstborn’s passport. How is it possible that I have a child that is old enough for her first passport to have expired?! #365 58/365 A photo posted by Ruth Arnold (@r2uk) on Feb 27, 2015 at 6:56am PST

Saturday 28 February 2015: Spring!

I love it when the first signs of spring start to appear 🙂

Sunday 1 March 2015: MRI

As part of the ongoing saga of my gallstones I had to have an MRI scan today. Our local hospital doesn’t have a permanent MRI facility, so my scan took place in the back of a lorry in the car park! Glamorous…

This is me this morning. Having an MRI scan (gallstones-related) in a car park! #tw #365 60/365 A photo posted by Ruth Arnold (@r2uk) on Mar 1, 2015 at 2:04am PST

Monday 2 March 2015: New Tap

The tap in our kitchen has been dripping for months. I had a plumber look at it, thinking it would be just a washer that needed replacing, but no, apparently it didn’t have a washer, it had ceramic plates, which were old and warped. Couldn’t be fixed, I was told, you’ll have to buy a new tap. Thankfully recently our local ALDI had some kitchen taps on sale, so I grabbed one. It’s taken a while for the geekdaddy to get around to fitting it, but today he did, and I now have a lovely new, non-dripping tap 🙂

Yay! My wonderful @floyduk has fitted my new tap and it works! (Apologies for the state of my sink – wooden splashbacks are a very bad idea around sinks) #tw #365 61/365

Tuesday 3 March 2015: No Entry

I’m not sure if I should be proud of how well my son’s writing has come on, or sad that’s he’s reached the stage of putting notes on his door to tell his sister to keep out!

I’m not sure if I should be proud of his writing or sad that’s he’s reached the stage of putting notes on his door to tell his sister to stay out. If you can’t read his writing it says “no” with a picture of Catherine then “this means you”! #23snaps #david #365 62/365

Wednesday 4 March 2015: A Promise

After attending Brownies for a few weeks now, the geekdaughter did her Promise this evening, and become a fully-fledged member. She was presented with this little collection of badges, which I now get to sew on to her uniform!

My girl is a fully-fledged brownie now, and has a collection of badges (and a candle) to prove it. Finding myself surprisingly proud. #23snaps #catherine #proudmum #365 63/365

Thursday 5 March 2015: Book Day

For World Book Day today the kids’ school asked everyone to come in dressed as their favourite hero or villain from a book. My daughter chose to be Hermione Granger whilst my son wanted to wear his new Iron Man costume!

For World Book Day today we are Hermione Granger and Iron Man #tw #23snaps #catherine #david #365 64/365

Friday 6 March 2015: Spawn!

Another sign that Spring is coming – we’ve got a good crop of frog spawn in our garden pond.

Spring is on the way – the frogs are spawning. Can you see both of them? (There were many more than that before I disturbed them!) #tw #365 65/365

Saturday 7 March 2015: Baking

We did some baking today, and for the first time that I can remember my son wanted to join in and help. Here he is using the rolling pin to smash biscuits to make Tiffin.

Great set of photos, I think 365 projects like this are so hard I tried two years ago and failed, work made it hard (finding something to photograph when you’ve been at work all day and it’s dark can be tricky) and then we had a really bad year with the deaths of two close relatives, and I gave up.

Well done for keeping this going, and keep up he good work, I love seeing other peoples photos.
