This week is all about recuperation for me. I’m off work to recover from my gallbladder surgery last week, and I think it’s going well. I’ve gone from hobbling around like an invalid to mostly moving around normally, although I don’t fancy trying anything too strenuous yet and I’m still a bit cautious with some bending and stretching. I’ve taken the opportunity to get plenty of rest, and have finally started watching Once Upon A Time on Netflix, which so many friends have recommended. Thankfully, even with life being a bit slower than usual, there have still been plenty of photo opportunities. So here’s my choice of one picture per day for the last week:
Sunday 3 May 2015: Sliding
My Mum cooked Sunday lunch for us today, and afterwards she and I took the kids to her local park whilst the geekdaddy washed up. This is the first time I’ve seen my daughter brave enough to both climb up this particular piece of equipment and “slide” down it. We were lucky with the weather today – despite the very threatening looking clouds in the background we didn’t get rained on!
Monday 4 May 2015: More Park Fun
A Bank Holiday Monday meant the kids at home for an extra day, and as the weather was good I took them both down to our local park – the furthest I’ve walked since the operation. Lots of fun for the kids, and a great achievement for me. I’ve been avoiding lifting the kids, or pushing them on swings, but I managed to get this one moving for my son without it hurting – looks like he enjoyed that!

Tuesday 5 May 2015: Breakfast
I’ve been having to avoid fatty foods, particularly milk, for the last few months to keep my gallbladder under control. Now it’s been removed I’m supposed to be able to go back to eating “normally”, but I’m being a bit cautious at least to start with. So when the geekdaddy and I went out for breakfast this morning I ordered the fruit salad. Unfortunately the pub had run out of fruit salad, so I HAD to have the pancakes with bacon.
Wednesday 6 May 2015: Jigsaw
On Wednesdays the geekdaughter goes to Brownies for two hours, which gives me some nice quality time with the geekson. Today we had great fun completing some of his jigsaws together

Thursday 7 May 2015: Posting an Invitation
It’s the geekson’s birthday at the end of this month, and I’ve finally got around to booking his party and making the invitations. This morning he took them all to school to hand out to his friends. One invitation, however, is for a friend he doesn’t see at school, so this one had to be posted. His sister very helpfully lifted him up so that he could put the letter into the postbox himself.
Friday 8 May 2015: Reading
We visited our local library after school today, and the geekson had a lovely time choosing books, and reading through them whilst he waited for his sister to choose hers. I took this photo because it made me smile that not only had he kept his coat on the whole time, but he’d also kept his hood up!

Saturday 9 May 2015: Return to the Forbidden Planet
A family theatre trip this afternoon. The geekdaddy and I took the kids to see one of our favourite musicals – Return to the Forbidden Planet. We first saw this show whilst we were at University, and this year is the 25th anniversary tour, which makes us feel very old! It was a great show, and both kids really enjoyed it too.
Usually I link my Photo a Day posts to a Linky hosted by The Boy And Me. However she’s taking a brief hiatus, so until she’s back there is a blog hop running instead. So if you want to see how other bloggers are getting on with their photo a day projects simply click on their pictures below:
