The entire geek family are big fans of Soreen products, particularly their Malt Loaf, which I have to buy sparingly due to our ability to demolish a whole loaf in just one sitting if left to our own devices! So when the Soreen people got in touch an asked us if we’d like to try out their new orange fruit loaf, I of course said yes please! Over the summer a very exciting box arrived with a selection of Soreen loaves, including the new orange variety.
Soreen told me that they were very excited about their new Orange Fruit Loaf. Here’s what they said about it:
Our Orange Fruit Loaf is just the perfect sunshine accompaniment this summer – packed with zesty orange pieces, tangy fruit juices and sweet sultanas! Its yummy orange flavours makes this loaf a great ingredient for zingy summer bakes whether it’s a citrus summer trifle, chocolate orange Soreen brownies or an original recipe of your own!
With promises like that, we were very excited to try it. The geekdaddy took the whole thing very seriously, and made a nice pot of tea to accompany our tasting:
The new Soreen Orange Fruit Loaf is a much lighter loaf than their original Malt Loaf, both in colour and in flavour. We really liked the delicate orange flavouring, and think that the loaf works well either eaten plain or with a nice covering of butter. Of course, as the Soreen people told us, you can also use their fruit loaves in cooking, but they don’t hang around for long enough in this family to do that!
I like to see Soreen adding new flavours to their range. From our extensive testing I can confirm that the banana and apple fruit loaves are also very good, but the Orange is the firm favourite in the geek household.
Soreen’s new orange fruit loaf is available in selected UK supermarkets – the mySupermarket web site tells me it’s currently on sale in Tesco for £1.20 and Asda for £1.00.
