The Gadget Show Live at the NEC is one of the highlights of my year. It’s a pretty unique chance to immerse myself in all the latest tech and gadgets, and makes for a really fun day out. It’s apparently Britains largest consumer tech show, and when it returns to the NEC this Easter the organisers are expecting 75,000 tech fans to flood through the doors. I shall be there again this year, and I am working with the Gadget Show Live team in order to offer a great giveaway that means some of my readers could be there too.
If you want to know what a day at the Gadget Show Live is like you can read my blog posts about my 2015 experience and my 2014 experiences. For 2016 four fantastic new areas have been added – Better Life, Power Up, The Lab and The Arcade, and here’s what the press release has to say about these:
Better Life – visitors to Better Life will discover tech that’s been engineered to enhance their everyday lives, whether that’s tech that seamlessly integrates different areas of their lives, or aesthetically irresistible products to beautify the home.
Sitting at the heart of Better Life is the House of Sound and Vision. Playing host to a truly cinematic experience, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the latest home cinema technology on the market. They can test out a cinema style experience in a purpose built living room kitted out with the latest audio, TV and surround sound tech to try before they buy.
Power Up – visitors will find technology with the power to drive their lives forward, everything from mobiles to wearables, fitness devices and in-car kit. Test drive very cool cars in the Car Experience and the latest personal transport devices on the Gadget Wheels Test Track.
The Lab – concept and innovation are integral to modern day tech and at Gadget Show Live visitors can discover inspirational tech for the future as well as advice and education on how the tech of tomorrow can change their lives.
In The Lab, visitors can hear gadget reviews from our experts in the Connect Theatre, see the tech of the future in the British Inventors’ Project and Innovation Theatre, and make their own gadgets in Engineer Your Future.
The Arcade – this is the place for gamers to become truly immersed in the very latest titles on the market, compete against friends (and even against the pros) in the Competition Zone and Minecraft Zone, check out innovative new games in the Indie Mobile & Gaming Pod and take a trip down memory lane with some fine vintage flashbacks.
I have to say I am very much looking forward to exploring those new areas!

better life looks interesting. i want a robot to do my household chores (you can keep the sex ones!)
Well, I know that we’d have to head to the gamers bit, as my 17 year old would naturally gravitate there. Me? I’ll sit down and have a cuppa first, then head to the interactive bits of the show
I’ve not been for a few years now, the gaming zones are usually my favourite, but I’d really love to get a chance to go on the test track, then see if I can bump into Jason Bradbury again 🙂
I would like to see whats going to happen with virtual reality and the tech of tomorrow.
I want to see what new photography gadgets are out and what new gaming gadgets we can play with!
I’d like to have a go at flying at drone. Love seeing all the new tech too
Inspirational tech for the future would be my sons choice
The gaming zone, spent ages last year at the event
I want to see all of the show to be honest! Let’s do this ! Love a bit of tech
I’d be on the retro stand – last year my wife spent ages playing the old games on the Commodore 64 and ZX81 ! – Also another chance to go to the main arena event – last year was a blast! – I love tech !!!
I would like to see a robot that does household chores like cleaning and cooking now that would be amazing and a lifesaver!
Id love to see a cafe area where we can be served by robots! x
I want to see home cinema gadgets which don’t need wires – fed up with hubbies trailing wires all around the lounge!
It has to be the Arcade to try out all the games! Hubby and son and daughter went last year and said it was fab!
I would like to see a safe working hoverboard that consumers could be secure in enjoying – this is a great bit of kit let down by shoddy manufacturing and deserves a better chance
Would love to have a go on a vr headset
Has to be a play on the vintage games in the Arcade
I would like to see the VR stuff
I am looking forward to see Apple.
i want to see the presenters doing their stuff!
seeing what new drones are out xxxc
Better Life sounds interesting- it’d be good to suss out new inventions that might make life easier- wonder if they’ve invented a gadget to tidy up after messy kids yet?!
As a gamer, I’m interested to see the new VR tech and have a go on some of the demos / games.
Loved the show the last time we went. I am sure that we saw everything possible however this time I would love to actually use a drone.
My son really wants to see what VR gaming is like now. He tried it at last year’s show and was blown away! ?
the gaming zones sound great, I’m sure I would end up there
I’d like to see the Power up area 🙂
I have never been and am obsessed with gadgets. Want to see everything.
I would like to see more home automation/robotics to free up more time to do more interesting and fun things at home
I would like to see wiz boards there so we can test it out
Power up, The Arcade hard to pick one, who am I trying to kid, anything and everything 🙂
I’d love to check out the fitness wearables, but the thing I’d like to see most? The look of joy on my son’s face and the knowledge that he is proud of me for facing my anxieties head on in taking him there when he has begged me every year for as long as I can remember and I’ve never had the confidence.
The arcade, we all love gaming.
Would love to virtual headsets
I would like to see more on virtual reality and what’s new
Virtual reality tech
The gaming zone, something that is out of this world and never seen before!!
I’d head for ‘Better life’ section to see whats new in the home entertainment world
