In my capacity as an XBox Live Ambassador I’ve been testing out a selection of the new features available in XBox Live, to discover that the XBox really is more than games. I’ve watched movies and TV shows, and this week our assignment is to watch YouTube videos. It’s a hard life isn’t it? As I mentioned last week, I’m an XBox LIVE Ambassador, and over the next few weeks I’m going to be testing out all the new features that have arrived with the latest update to the XBox operating system. This week it’s TV week, and so the geekdaddy and I settled down tonight to dig around the “tv” menu on the XBox and see what we could watch.

One of the downsides of two geeks getting married is that there is no-one to provide the “voice of reason” whenever either one of us wants the latest piece of technology. Normally the non-geek of the family would prevent too many frivolous purchases being made whereas conversations in our house tend to go more along these lines:
One of us: I want to get a insert_name_of_latest_cool_piece_of_tech
The other one: What does it do that we can’t do already?
The first: Not much. But it does it faster/with more style/better/whatever
The other one: OK, sounds cool, let’s get one!
And this is pretty much how we ended up with one of every games console on the market.
